LOST Season 4 Episodes (5-7) ReWatch

** I plan to do an All About Lost Live this Monday, 2 November ** Sorry for the delay in doing this.  I will update you with details to come.  TLE

This week we reWatch:

4.05 The Constant (Desmond)
4.06 The Other Woman (Juliet)
4.07 Ji Yeon (Sun)

We find out who is the remaining member of the Oceanic 6, why Juliet “really really” hates Ben, and we get the most emotionally satisfying episode of LOST (IMHO) in the story of Penny’s long search for Desmond.

4.05 The Constant (Desmond)

Desmond explains he had a dream that was so vivid he thought he was there. The characters in FlashForward described their flashforwards the same way.

What confuses me is, has the events taking place happened before, or are we seeing the first instance of Desmond being confused?

Desmond asked why Daniel didn’t need protection for his head, but then we see why his brain is fried in his flashback during Season 5.

4.06 The Other Woman (Juliet)

I wonder if Dharma had a photo of Juliet and Ben has tried all his life to find Juliet, after all she is the one who saved him as a child. Or is it the fact she look like Annie or his mom.

4.07 Ji Yeon (Sun)

In this episode, did Jin let it slip? He asked Kate “what happened?” and it sounded fluent and not the slow speech that would have come from a person learning a new language.

The captain might be right about Ben Linus staging the crash wreckage. We know the Others like to collect dead bodies, maybe they need the dead bodies to stage a crash of this magnitude. We see in the 70’s when Amy’s husband was shot and the others wanted his body. They could have possibly received orders to collect as many bodies possible for a feat like this. Which reminds me of the runway build which was an act that was preparing for a future event.

“V” preview video (no spoilers)

Here is our first look at V. It seems much more interesting to me than the other new ABC show. Liz Mitchell is a standout again. The TV guy reminds me of both MJ Fox and Tom Cruise. Special effects are fantastic. I don’t get the police barrier… Both sides of the barrier have people… so what’s the big deal about being on one side or the other? Anyway, can’t wait to ReWatch the show I saw back in the 80’s.

If you look closely you will see two LOST references: 1) Liz Mitchell’s “eye” and 2) the word “Oceanic” in the background in the scene where Liz and son are standing below the Visitor’s spaceship.   TLE

Jamie sent me this info on how to watch the trailer.  I also included an embedded You Tube window below.

Hey TLE, I have not been in touch for a while but I have found some news on the remake of V

LOST Season 4 Episodes (1-4) ReWatch

This week’s ReWatch covers these episodes from Season 4 (The Freighter Season):

4.01 The Beginning of the End (Hurley)

4.02 Confirmed Dead (Dan, Miles, Charlotte, Frank)

4.03 The Economist (Sayid)

4.04 Eggtown (Kate)

Oh BTW, here is how the earlier seasons were themed.  The Lost writers consider these like Chapters in a book:

Season 1 (The Losties, The Oceanic 815 survivors); Season 2 (The Hatch); and Season 3 (The Others).

4.01 The Beginning of the End (Hurley)

When Hurley Cannonballed into the sea, how much time elapsed? Because he missed Desmond rowing from the sea, when he get’s out of the water Desmond has arrived.

When the beachies were arguing over contacting Jack about the freighter folk, Hurley interupted and asked where Charlie was, which made them all think about, no matter how important we think what we’re doing or where we’re going, the most important things to us are the ones around us. It was a great time out for reflection.

When Abbadon arrived at the mental hospital, he was sitting in front of a half played chess game. Who was he playing with? If Widmore owned Oceanic, I’m not sure how Abbadon wasn’t able to have a business card, with Oceanic on it or even a badge or logo on his suit.

We never knew it, but the time that the beach crew meet with Jack’s crew and Locke, this would be the last time the group would be together again.

I said it before, but I’m sure that there’s something magical about counting to 5, when Hurley does it to Charlie he disappears. When he tried to get rid of Dave without the counting, it didn’t work.

When the tribes were split up, it would have been smarter to go with whichever group didn’t have Ben, as the freighter folk were only after Ben.

4.02 Confirmed Dead (Dan, Miles, Charlotte, Frank)

Locke seems like he loves the rain, kinda like he hasn’t felt rain on his face for a very long time. As he was standing out during a freak storm.

Why would they gave Daniel a gun if they weren’t going to train him how to use one. We remember the time he tried to use one, he got shot in 1977.

I thought Miles couldn’t talk to the dead. Although it seemed like he could in this episode.

It’s fair enough the writers tell us the future can’t be changed, but maybe subtle things can be. How is it that what Mile’s did, could change the picture frames? I wonder if they are saying that the family is better off now financially, than before Mile’s came. Maybe the amount of money Mile’s found was changed, somewhere in time, maybe the son gave some to the old lady before he died, so she could afford metal picture frames.

4.03 The Economist (Sayid)

We still don’t know what is meant by the engravings on Naomi’s bracelet: “N, I’ll always be with you. R.G”. Who is R.G I wonder?

When Mile’s asked Sayid, “do you think you’re going to leave with out me?” Sayid replied “no”. It looked like Sayid was about to crack up laughing.

Maybe the so called, Jacob’s cabin, moves around like the island.

Mile’s said he only met Naomi on the boat, but we know she met with him before that for an ‘audition’.

I wonder if Sayid’s words about everyone having a boss is a small reveal about the levels of order in the show. Like, does that imply that Jacob has boss, and his boss has a boss and so forth?

Ben has a hidden room, I wonder if this was brought about when Richard broke through the wall in season 5, when going for Jughead and letting Jack & Sayid out.

When Ben said “I guess they’re running out of jail space”, that made me think, there is a jail that Dharma used, and how come Locke doesn’t use it.

Elsa could be working for Jacob. If she is then, Ben is against Jacob, the person he devouted his life to serving. I’m finding it hard to track which team is what. Abelino the man on the golf course had Ilana working for them. And she also worked for Jacob. But from this episode we are to believe that Widmore is working in opposition to Ben.

4.04 Eggtown (Kate)

When Kate met Jack in the back exit or the court house. Kate referred to Aaron as a baby. I thought that was odd.

It was interesting what Sawyer said about when she get’s angry with Jack she’ll come running back, and is exactly what she does off island when her and Jack can’t make their relationship work, Kate comes back to the island in 1977 to be with Sawyer.

Did you know the memory test Daniel was having with Charlotte, one of the cards shown can be seen in Aaron’s room when Kate comes in.

All About Lost ReWatch Eps 18 (S3 21-23)

This week I cover the last two episodes of Season 3, Greatest Hits and Through the Looking Glass. These are two quintessential episodes of Lost with one of the best standard flashback type eps followed by probably the best episode of Lost in the entire series so far. An episode that literally blows the mind and takes our characters into a bizarro world where all we knew about them is turned upside down and inside out.

LOST Season 3 Episodes (21-22) ReWatch

These are two quintessential episodes of Lost with one of the best standard flashback type eps followed by probably the best episode of Lost in the entire series so far.  An episode that literally blows the mind and takes our characters into a bizarro world where all we knew about them is turned upside down and inside out.

Go ask Alice: I think she’ll know: When logic and proportion: Have fallen sloppy dead

… to borrow a line from the classic rock song (White Rabbit).

So to contact the blog go to tle1lost.wordpress.com or to send an email its tlepodcast@gmail.com and twitter @allaboutlost.  I am looking forward to getting your thoughts on these episodes.

When Lost started many included me thought the show would end with a glorious rescue from the island.  In fact the writers had scripted out their story arcs based on the story ending after 1, 3, or 5 seasons of Lost.  We found out this season (in 2007) that the series would go 6 seasons, but few if any of us would have guessed “the end” would have come so soon (if you get my drift).

Here they are.  The last two episodes of Season 3.  By the way, I know I am a little off schedule and we should have 3 eps this week, but I have a lot to cover and would rather do a clean end to S3 and start S4 next podcast.  Okay Greatest Hits refers to…

3.21 Greatest Hits (Charlie)

I can’t stop thinking of how good Naomi is at lying.

In the flashback where Charlie jumps into the pool with his dad, if you listen closely enough just at the moment Charlie steps forward, you can hear the words “come on let’s go, hurry up, Desmond, come on”. This starts an interesting discussion. Did Desmond influence something here that allowed Charlie the ability to swim, as we know he couldn’t until now. Maybe before this incident, Desmond spoke to him about jumping in and trusting his dad. Which now changes the future. We know Desmond is unique and the rules don’t apply to him, so he must be able to influence the past. Maybe that’s why Widmore wanted him on the island, so that he could minimize the disruption caused by Desmond.

I’m sure Charlie lied about holding his breathe for 4 minutes. He had to in order for Jack to let him go on this mission.

Yet another flashback where Charlie sings Wonderwall and then it rains. If it happened twice to me, I would start to think that the song is a bad omen for rain and given up on that song.

Whatever happened to Charlie’s list? Both Charlie and Desmond jumped down to the Looking Glass, so the list would have been wet through.

3.22 Through the Looking Glass (RIP Charlie)

Knowing that Widmore owns Oceanic, I wonder if it was his idea to show Jack that obit as the stewardess had the page open on the spot ready for Jack.

When Jack attempted suicide, the words from Tom rang through my head. You can’t kill yourself, because the island won’t let you.

I find it interesting that the Others refer to the Losties by their real last names. But when they referred to Bernard, he was just the dentist. I wonder if there’s something about them appearing back in 1977 that makes the others interested in some of the Losties. That induction photo from season 5, would still be at the barracks so the Others would have questioned why they were in the photos and also on the island at the time.

When John woke up in the ditch, I wondered if this is the time John becomes Jacob’s nemesis. We know John wouldn’t kill anyone before, so what make him think he can kill Naomi, which makes me think it’s not Locke. My theory is that the nemesis is trapped in the cabin, and only at the time the ring of ash is broken, was he able to escape from the prisoners he was. Only then was he able to become another person. So when was the ring of ash broken? Was it when Locke rubbed his fingers in it? when he first came across it, or when Hurley stumbled across it, in season 4, he may have accidentally broken the ring of ash. Now all spirits are allowed in or out, ie. Christian and Claire.

I don’t think Locke wanted to look like a lunatic in front of his people, that’s why he didn’t shoot Jack when he had the sat phone, and Locke retreats just as suddenly as he came, very similar to Un-Locke in season 5, but I guess he’s always had impeccable timing.

Seeing Charlie die always brings a tear to the eye.
