As promised here are the easiest ways I use to determine which shows to watch:
1. Know your budget – I have satellite TV, so I can choose from over 100 channels but most of these are news, sports, or shopping. That narrows things down to about 20 good channels. If you have subscription TV your choices will increase but obviously so will the cost.
2. Watch premieres – Nowadays I can watch free premieres on my computer. I recommend checking them out for any show you might be interested in. Showtime even had the first episode of Penny Dreadful on its website for free.
3. Trust the TV critics – If the MetaCritic score is above 70 that is a good indication the show may be worth watching.
